Though all of them promise heavenly results, not many will show positive and long lasting results. Moreover, several products worsen the dry and itchy situation.

Aging effects on skin could be due to two processes. The internal or intrinsic aging ends up in thinning of skin, fine wrinkles, closure of sebaceous (oil) glands, drying and itching skin. The external aging is caused by pollutants, smoking, UV rays in sun light, mental stress, anxiety, lack of proper rest and sleep. Usually, external factors lead to premature aging. Any beauty regime includes ready made or home made face packs that are derived from natural ingredients such as honey, oil, eggs, fruits etc. Most of the anti-aging products include nutrient supplements such as vitamins A, D, E, and C, which are proven age-defying substances. Nevertheless, efficacy of such supplements when applied topically is a matter of debate. While most of these products offer temporary relief, oily ointments often leave unwanted greasiness that may aggravate the situation. Creams and lotions, on the other hand, are light and easily absorbed into the skin, giving an instant smoothness and softness.

Some anti-aging products contain substances such as glycolic acid which gently exfoliate the outermost layer of skin to encourage fresh, smoother, softer new layer. However, all anti-aging products do not yield similar results for all users. Basing on the skin types and severity, results differ; so should your choice of such preparations.
